Foreclosure Diversion Program Launches First Call Pilot in Springvale and Lewiston Courts

April 11, 2014. Today, the Foreclosure Diversion Program (FDP) launched the “First Call” Pilot Project at the Springvale District Court. The Springvale District Court is the FDP processing court for all courts in York County.

On Thursday, April 24, the FDP will launch the Pilot Project at the Lewiston District Court. The Lewiston District courts is the FDP processing court for the Lewiston and South Paris District Courts, and the Androscoggin and Oxford County Superior Courts.

To date, the First Call Pilot Project has been implemented at FDP processing courts in Bangor, Rockland, Ellsworth, Portland, West Bath and Caribou.  The project will operate statewide by the end of 2014.  It eliminates the delay between the informational session and first mediation session and brings the parties together earlier in the process. All cases at the informational session will proceed to mediation that same day, where parties will discuss the homeowner’s situation and any options to foreclosure that may be available. Based on information shared at this mediation, the parties will make a clear plan of action that is recorded in the mediator’s report.
