NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON
PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO
M.R. PROF. CONDUCT 8.4
TO PROHIBIT HARASSMENT AND DISCRIMINATION

Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at 1:30 p.m.
Cumberland County Courthouse, Portland

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court will hold a public hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, in Courtroom 12 of the Cumberland County Courthouse in Portland to receive oral comments on a proposed amendment to the Maine Rules of Professional Conduct to adopt Rule 8.4(g), which would prohibit harassment and discrimination in the practice of law.   

Any person may make oral comments to the Court at the public hearing; commenters need not be attorneys to make comments on behalf of themselves or any organizations.  Any person intending to make comments must arrive at the courtroom and report to the Executive Clerk by 1:20 p.m.

Information that the Court has collected on the proposal, including a former proposed amendment, comments received in response to that proposal, the current proposed amendment, and comments received in response to the current proposal, are on the Judicial Branch website at www.courts.maine.gov/profconduct.
