Order Establishing an Advisory Committee on the Maine Rules of Appellate Procedure

Effective May 9, 2016 All of the Justices concurring, an Advisory Committee on the Maine Rules of Appellate Procedure is hereby established:

  1. Establishment of the Advisory Committee on the Maine Rules of Appellate Procedure. A ten member committee shall act as the Advisory Committee on the Maine Rules of Appellate Procedure.
  2. Membership. The Chair and members of the Committee shall be appointed by order of the Supreme Judicial Court.
  3. Terms. The members of the Committee shall serve for three-year terms, except as follows. The Court shall appoint committee members for initial terms as follows: (a) Five members for initial three-year terms; and (b) Four members for initial two-year terms. Members in good attendance may be reappointed to the Committee, but no member shall be appointed to more than three successive terms, in addition to any partial terms. Members shall continue to serve until a successor is appointed, and appointments to fill a vacancy shall be for the balance of the existing term.
  4. New Members. A ten-member committee having been created by the Court, the Court hereby appoints the following members to serve on the Advisory Committee on the Maine Rules of Appellate Procedure: Edmond J. Bearor, Esq., of Bangor Joseph M. Bethony, Esq., of Bangor James A. Billings, Esq., of Augusta Catherine R. Connors, Esq., of Portland Jamesa J. Drake, Esq., of Auburn Ryan P. Dumais, Esq., of Brunswick Tina H. Nadeau, Esq., of Portland Marshall J. Tinkle, Esq., of Portland Lauren Wille, Esq., of Portland Janet T. Mills, Attorney General (or designee) shall serve as a member ex officio of the Committee. Edmond J. Bearor, Esq., shall serve as Chair of the Committee. Associate Justice Donald G. Alexander shall serve as Judicial Liaison to the Committee. This order shall be recorded in the Maine Reporter.
